Where will you ride most often?
- City and short rides: a light and agile motorcycle suits best, for example the Hunter 350 or Guerrilla 450.
- Country roads and weekend trips: Classic 350, Bullet 350, Interceptor 650.
- Motorways and long journeys: Meteor 350, Super Meteor 650.
- Gravel, forest tracks, touring: Himalayan 450, Scram 440, Bear 650.
What style suits you?
Heritage – Classic, Bullet and Goan Classic – is pure nostalgia with chrome and a round headlight. Roadster – Hunter, Guerrilla, Interceptor – is a versatile motorcycle with an upright riding position. Cruiser – Meteor, Super Meteor, Shotgun – offers forward foot controls and a relaxed pace. The Café racer Continental GT has a sporty riding position with lowered handlebars. The Adventure Himalayan is built for roads leading anywhere.
350, 450, or 650?
The 350 cc singles are calm, economical and ideal for relaxed riding at country-road speeds. The 450 engine is more modern, liquid-cooled and livelier. The 650 cc twins offer more power for motorways, riding two-up and overtaking. And you can ride all of these models with an A2 licence.
Riding position and seat height
Specifications on paper are not enough. Sit on the motorcycle, put your feet on the ground and try lifting it off the stand. You should feel secure on the ground and reach the handlebars and controls comfortably. For shorter riders the width of the seat matters a lot too, not just its height.
Will you ride two-up?
If you plan to carry a passenger regularly, focus on a comfortable seat, footrests and a more powerful engine. The 650 twins or the Super Meteor are significantly more comfortable two-up than light roadsters.
New, or rented to try?
If you are torn between two models, the best judge is a ride. A test ride shows within minutes whether the riding position, the engine and the controls suit you. And if you want to get to know a motorcycle more thoroughly, you can rent it for a longer trip.
