Choose an ordinary route, not an exceptional one
When trying a bike before buying, it is useful to get to know it in situations you will actually repeat. Part of the town, a favourite country road, parking. You don't have to plan the longest trip of the season on the first day.
Conditions are part of the choice
Check the price, return time, deposit, mileage and other conditions in advance. A catalogue rate is not confirmation of availability for a specific day. Arrange everything directly with the rental.
Don't look for perfection, look for a match
Every motorcycle has compromises. After you return, write down what you would enjoy every week and what would bother you in the long run. That is a good basis for another test or for a purchase decision.
