When to go for the inspection
A new motorcycle goes for its first technical inspection four years after first registration, then every two years. You will find the date of the next inspection in the protocol from the last inspection and in the vehicle register.
What to bring with you
- the vehicle registration certificate (the small registration document),
- the technical certificate, if you have one,
- the protocol from the last technical inspection,
- documents for any approved modifications.
Always verify the current requirements and price list with the specific station.
What is checked
- Identification: the VIN and its match with the documents.
- Brakes: effectiveness on the rollers, condition of the discs, hoses and fluid.
- Lights: all lights, indicators, brake light, headlight adjustment.
- Tyres: size according to the documents, tread depth, damage.
- Steering and chassis: play in the steering, condition of the fork and shock absorbers, leaks.
- Exhaust and noise: exhaust tightness and its conformity with homologation.
- Other: horn, mirrors, licence plate and its lighting.
The most common reasons a motorcycle fails
- a non-working licence plate light or brake light,
- unapproved modifications – an exhaust without homologation, a short plate holder, indicators without homologation,
- worn or unsuitable tyres,
- an oil leak or leaking fork seals,
- a bent or illegible licence plate.
Modifications and the inspection
Parts that change the appearance or parameters of the motorcycle must be homologated for road use or entered in the documents. Original Royal Enfield accessories are designed for the specific model. For every part, especially from other sources, it pays to verify the homologation before fitting.
Pre-inspection check
If you want to be sure, bring the motorcycle to Royal Enfield GARAGE before the date of the technical inspection. We will check everything important, fix minor things and you will go to the inspection without worry.
